Keep the Boat Afloat

With river programs aboard the Blackstone Valley Explorer, a 49-passenger riverboat, nearly curtailed for the 2009 season, local organizers are planning a funtastic fundraiser to Keep the Boat Afloat on Tuesday, June 30th at The Blackstone, Hope Artiste Village, 1005 Main Street, Pawtucket from 6-10 pm.

The Blackstone Valley Explorer, a 49-passenger riverboat, is the only boat of its kind on the Blackstone River and has been offering river education programs and public tours since 1993. School children, seniors, and visitors to the area have enjoyed the river programs provided by the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council. Under current economic conditions, keeping the Blackstone Valley Explorer in operation is fraught with financial difficulty and this year’s limited tour season was nearly landlocked.

If you have enjoyed a cruise aboard the Blackstone Valley Explorer with your friends and family or with your school, senior group or bus group; please help us Keep the Boat Afloat exploring the Blackstone River by reserving your tickets now this fundraiser. Tickets are only $20.00 and include food, entertainment, and vendor market fair. A silent auction is also planned for this event. For more information of if you would like to donate an item for the silent auction contact Patti McAlpine or Bob Billington at 401-724-2200.
